Villa Exarcheia is a residency programme organised and facilitated by Phoenix Athens gallery. The Villa Exarcheia residency provides residency spaces for up to five artists to live and work in Athens in its location at the foot of Mount Lycabettus, just 15 minutes by foot from Athens center.
This programme offers to artists from all nationalities and backgrounds to experience and learn about the Athenian Art scene. An Athens-based curator will work with each artist individually throughout their stay to support their research, practice and onsite community projects. The curator will be in discussion with the artists both prior and during their stay in Athens in order to provide a rounded collaboration.
A “light” residency is also provided at a lower rate, allowing for practitioners to focus more specifically on research and or creative output/production with no exhibition.
Couples, artist-curator teams and student groups are also welcome. Please be sure to specify in your application if you wish to apply as a team and include the names of any and all other collaborators.
If you wish to apply for outside funding, we recommend that you apply at least 3 to 5 months in advance so as to insure for this possibility during your stay. A list of funding bodies is provided. Please read carefully carefully read all the documents below before applying to the Villa Exarcheia Residency.
